2GM – Carlo Fecia di Cossato (1908 – 1944) capitano di fregata, sommergibilista. (colore mio)Prestò servizio con la Regia Marina durante la seconda guerra mondiale e fu un “asso” dei sommergibilisti italiani con 17 imbarcazioni nemiche affondate. Gli furono conferite medaglie di bronzo, argento e oro al valor militare. Nel dicembre del 1941 ricevette la croce di ferro di 1ª Classe per avere partecipato al salvataggio di oltre 400 marinai naufraghi tedeschi.Operò nell’Atlantico e nel Mediterraneo. Dopo l’armistizio non esitò ad ingaggiare combattimenti contro unità navali tedesche. Lacerato tra il dovere di obbedire legato al giuramento al RE, e l’onore militare, morì togliendosi la vita..

He served with the Italian Regia Marina during the Second World War and was an “ace” of Italian submariners with 17 enemy boats sunk. He was awarded bronze, silver and gold medals for military valor. In December 1941 he received the german 1st Class Iron Cross for participating in the rescue of over 400 shipwrecked German sailors.It operated in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. After the armistice, he did not hesitate to engage in combat against German naval units. Torn between the duty to obey linked to the oath to the King, and military honor, he took his own life.
